Pendine Dash Photos 14 Aug 2016

The Nantyfin Hotel in Llandisilio was an excellent start venue for this years Dash.. Plenty of parking and excellent coffee!  A new route by Alan proved very popular and a finish at the Wales Garden Centre near Carmarthen, proved another excellent finish venue

Details of next years event will be announced at the AGM in November

MGs at the Manor
7 Jun 2016  MGs at the Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club Show at Scolton Manor near Haverfordwest.  Outstanding weather brilliant show.
St Davids day run  2016

Excellent turnout for the first run of the year.  Blue sky and sunshine greeted the runners at Withybush airfield and at the Sunday lunch venue at the Begelly Arms Pub for lunch.  Good route took us to Dale, Milford Haven and back again!  But it was cold!  Didn't bother most of us.
St Davids Day Run  28th Feb 2015

Very good entry for this years St Davids Day Run including some entries from local classic car clubs.  The weather was dry but cold.  Roy had organised the route  and it proved varied but interesting.  The coffee stop was held at the Fresh Water East Inn and the lunch stop at the Landshipping Inn both venues warm and welcoming.
A good start to club runs for 2015.
Only one breakdown this year diagnosed as water in the petrol tank.
Annual Quiz with the Vintage Car Club 3rd Feb 2015
A cold night saw 4 teams from Pembs MG Car Club and the Pembs Vintage Car Club do battle at the Plas Hafrod Hotel Narberth.
A real cliff hanger which required a tie break to decide the winner.  The tie break question was  " How long is the river Nile in Africa"
The nearest guess came from the Pembs MG at 2700 miles.  The answer was 4000 miles!
The photos show concentration and determination by the teams.  Roy had left Pat to ask the questions. He was later found in the bar.
Great fun was had by all and well done the Pembs MG Car Club teams.
Pendine Dash   10th August  2014

Despite Hurricane Bertha the tenth Pendine Dash was a brilliant success.   During the setup the rain was torential and we were lucky we had the comfort of the Picton Centre to dry off.   Hurrah, by the time the first cars set off the rain had stopped and some entrants had lowered their hoods.  The event was started by the Mayor of Haverfordwest,  Roy Thomas, no relation to our sec.  In the photos the Mayor and his wife can be seen together with our new chairman  David Benthal.  The Mayor was very interested in the cars and joined in the fun.
The planned route was varied and interesting and all the entrants seemed to enjoy the run.

A big Thank You to all who helped this year.

4 Day trip to the Pilgrim Hotel Much Birch  Nr  Hereford   6th  9th April 2014

20 members signed up for this trip.  Lots to do.  Hay on wye.  Black and white route.  And SORRY,  a visit to the Morgan Factory at Malvern  which dare I say it, was outstanding.  One of us was caught purposely stroking a Morgan.  She was suspended from our club for 3 weeks!

Excellent food and accommodation at the hotel.  Good trip.

Photos are of the Brian Morris Memorial Run on 22 March 2014 to The Salutation Inn Felindre Farthoge
Very well supported, varied route but a more than a little sad.  We miss you Brian.

Saturday 1st March dawned cloudy and cold but remained dry despite the forecast for showers.  We assembled in Morrison's Car Park, Carmarthen from 10.30 am. for the start of the first club run of this season. The event was organised by Margaret and Tony Brinsden who produced a route of 44 miles taking in mainly country lanes providing an ideal  scenic and challenging drive for our classic MG's with a very nice pub meal at Salem, near Llandeilo.
Some of us had various gremlins affecting our cars after the Winter lay-up but we all succeeded in arriving at our lunchtime destination. There were 13 cars in total covering a variety of models from 1950's to modern.
There was an excellent meal in very pleasant surroundings served by the friendly staff.. We departed after 3.00 pm for the drive home to Carmarthen or Pembrokeshire.
A big vote of thanks for Margaret and Tony for a superb day out.

Photos to follow!

Quiz night with the Pembrokeshire Vintage Car Club  4 February 2014

Another successful Quiz evening held at the Cottage Inn, Llangwym
After the first round of questions gloom descended amongst the teams. Blimey this was going to be more difficult than last year when the MG Club won the day.

This year the Vintage club won, well done to them. They also provided a magnificent buffet so thanks to them and the owners of the Cottage Inn.

An excellent evening    Despite the dreadful weather for the trip home.

Christmas lunch  7 December  Mansion House Hotel  Llansteffan

41 members attended the annual trip to the Mansion House Hotel. Always a popular event, most members consider it the start of Christmas celebrations, and why not.  Most look happy on the photos!  Maybe Santa will cheer them up.

In summary, another excellent well organised event. Thank you Brian and Jan.

AGM Images Sat 23rd November.
Presentation to outgoing chairman Syd, 10 years of success.
12th Oct 2013 MGOC Visit to the National Botanical Gardens
Lots of MGs of all types from Aberystwyth, Cardiff, Bridgend and Swansea joined the Pembrokeshire MG Car Club on their annual trip to the gardens.
Excellent venue, overcast but dry weather friendly gathering. We will go again if invited!
Pendine Dash 2013
Beautiful weather, good entry and enthusiastic participants helped make this event the best yet! We're not sure how we are going to make it better but we will try.  A big thankyou to the Mayor of Haverfordwest for waving the starting flag, the organising group and helpers on the day and of course the participants themselves.  Well done to all.
Sunderland Trust Museum
Visit to The Sunderland Trust Museum in Pembroke Dock.  Well worth a visit. I had no idea that Pembroke Dock had such a vast and interesting history.  A Royal Dockyard which built all the Royal yachts before the Britannia, and of course many cruisers Wow! And of course several squadrons of Sunderland maritime aircraft which helped protect the Southwestern approaches during the Second World War. The Army had several Welsh Regiments billeted here before the war and of course the Navy had a presence well into the 1980s.  Now all gone. Many thousands of soldiers airmen and sailers lived in the town itself and a pub appeared on every corner!  Most of the pubs have also all gone.

Geoff and Jane's BBQ 09.06.2013

Out and about in the Harbourmaster pub, Aberaeron
Two popular events took place in April...

First, the OUT and ABOUT on the evening of 9th April ending up at the Plas Hyfryd hotel in Narbeth. The food was excellent when it arrived. In one case 2 hours after it was ordered!  Not sure how I ended up with the free pint of Guinness offered to Joe as compensation for poor service but the drink was very welcome.

There were no complaints from anyone else which was a relief. The hotel is an excellent venue but was a little overloaded, the local Triumph motor cycle club occupied the next room so I suppose the kitchen couldn't cope. I'm sure there will be a next time.

Sorry there are no photos, probably just as well, the ladies were on one table and the men on another!

Second, the Sunday lunch do at the Lamphey Hall Hotel on 21st April with coffee and biscuits at Pat and Roys home beforehand.

The weather was fine for the drive to Pat and Roys home and the subsequent journey to the Lamphey Hall Hotel. The welcome at both venues was brilliant and the food at the Hall was excellent. A day of superlatives. Thanks to Pat and Roy,  looking forward to next years visit to the Lamphey Hall Hotel. Not mentioned so far for both events was the excellent company.

St Davids Day Run 2nd March 2013

Blue skies but cool, a great run to start the years events  Thanks to Brian and Jan for organising the event  Oh and Brians MGC GT won the prize for the car the owner of the Wolfcastle Hotel would like to have in his garage!  Well done. More polish next time for the rest of us!

Annual Quiz with the Pembs Vintage Car Club 12 Feb 2013 Bush Inn LLandisilio

Eight teams, four from each club gathered together at the Bush Inn ready for an entertaining evening of questions and answers.  Each team consisted of five to six members and the "Cruise-aiders our team consisted of Paul and Alison, Mike, Myself and Vanessa and guess what we won for the Pembs MG Club.  Brilliant.  The prize was a choice of either wine or a large box of chocolates and yes we chose the chocolates. These were passed around the other teams and folk were obviously still hungry!
Anyway, thanks for all your efforts Roy, as question master you did a great job and you even remembered most of us were deaf as posts
